When Jay embarked on his journey to establish what is now known as Art History 101 he began by hand painting artwork onto shirts. As the clientele built he quickly realized he had to start mass producing to fill the demand so he then bought his first screen printing machine and put it in his mother’s basement on Longshore Ave. located in Northeast Philadelphia. It was a tight squeeze fitting the machine in the basement but Jay made it work. There were only a hand full of designs made in the basement of Longshore Ave., but one that had always held weight was when he combined 2 of Art History’s iconic logos the “StarH” & “Art History Tag.” Back then there were no specific names for the designs. He later went onto selling that design for about 2 years and put it to rest. That was 8 years ago. Now straight out of the Art History 101 archives and on to Frankford Ave. comes the release of the legendary “Longshore StarH”.
